"La Rue c'est misa a nu par ses orielles, partout"/"the street is stripped bare by her ears, everywhere".

June 9 - August 2, 06, Art Interactive, Cambridge, MA., curated by Susan Joyce.

"La Rue c'est misa a nu par ses orielles, partout" is comprised of numerous micro radios transmitters tuned to the same frequency embedded at various points in the neighborhood surrounding the gallery in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Each transmitter will be equipped with a transducer modified for each context (condenser, contact mic, PZM, etc...). The transmitter/microphone pairs will be in close proximity and located in private homes, storefronts, rooftops, and alleyways. In preparation, we will walk the streets and locate individuals/participants willing to open up their private spaces to the ears of strangers, and locations of particular sonic interest. The work will present a dynamic, aural, real-time map of the neighborhood at the invisible intersections of architecture, pedestrian flow, public and private usage.

This work is a collaborative effort.

URBANtells is a collective of three media artists, Steve Bradley, Joe Reinsel, and James Rouvelle.
